Alien: Isolation is a first-person shooter game that uses both stealth and horror elements. According to its source inspired Dishonored and Bioshock.
The game takes place in the year 2137, 15 years after the events of director Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien. The main character of Alien: Isolation is Amanda Ripley, the daughter of space officer Ellen Ripley.
Fifteen years ago, Ellen Ripley was about to leave Earth on a science mission. Before leaving, Ellen Ripley promised her daughter – Amanda – that she would return home for Amanda’s 11th birthday. But that parting was permanent and Amanda never saw her mother again since that day.
Fifteen years later, Amanda, now a Weyland employee – Yutani. She learns that the flight recorder of the Nostromo – the fateful ship her mother was on – has been recovered at the Sevastopol space station. The temptation is too great. To investigate the disappearance of her mother Amanda decides to go to the Sevastopol space station to find Nostromo’s flight recorder. However, when the crew arrived in Sevastopol, they found something was downright wrong. It all seems to be connected to an unknown threat, lurking and killing deep in the dark.
As Amanda, she’ll spend most if not all of the game on a lone space station teeming with androids and hostile clones. Enemies in the game are Xenomorph (a type of alien), cloned creature and android robot.
What is the main mission in the game? Extremely brief: survive. You’ll discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror game set in an atmosphere of constant fear and deadly danger. As Amanda, you go into a desperate battle for survival, on a quest to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance. Travel through a tumultuous world and face panic, despair and unpredictable situations in a war with merciless aliens. You will have to scavenge resources and use your wits, not to succeed in your quest but simply to survive.
